Blogging, the hottest trend in online publishing right now,
is currently spreading like wildfire across the Internet.

A cross between an online journal and a bulletin board,
everyone from rock starts, politicians, business leaders
and your average "Joe" or "Jane" can instantly become a
center of influence online using blogs.

But, as with any social interaction, certain rules apply
(my grandma calls them manners) in order to be viewed as
behaving "properly."

One of the things that gives blogging such strong appeal as
an online publishing method revolves around "comments."

Blogs that allow "comments" enable readers to respond and
elaborate on the information posted by the blog owner.

These comments and the free exchange of information,
opinions, links, and new ideas creates the dynamic and
growing content that makes blogging such a popular online
activity for both publishers and readers.

However, rules and unwritten customs about the proper use
of "comments" on a specific blog are also where most of the
problems and controversy will arise.

Since a successful blog eventually becomes a community of
people (albeit in cyberspace), proper social behavior is
critical to be an effective and accepted member of the
community.

Keep these basic rules in mind when approaching a new blog
that allows commenting by readers so you won't find
yourself on the wrong end of a scolding by people who
operate with a different set of rules than you.

As with any social circle, violating the group's rules and
customs will instantly cause a negative backlash.


** Keep It Relevant **

Stay on topic with the post you're commenting about in a
blog.

Nothing will earn you the wrath and disdain of your
fellow posters and the blog owner faster than posting an
off-topic comment.


** Watch What Others Do **

Different blogs operate under different rules. What rates
acceptable in one blog would earn you a verbal thrashing in
another.

Before posting (especially if you have not posted to a
specific blog before), look to see the types and quality of
posts others make regularly.

Are they long or short?

Do they contain a link to the person's website?

Is there a "signature" under their name?


** Be Polite **

It's fine to disagree with people when making a comment,
whether it's the blog's author or a comment made by another
reader.

It is not, however, acceptable to launch a personal attack
on anyone or make nasty comments in someone else's blog.

If you feel the need to do so, do it in your own blog.

It's the same principle of you can say whatever you want in
your own house, but when you're in someone else's house,
you act right (and better than you do at home).


** You Can't Respond To Everyone **

If you operate a blog and someone asks a question, try to
respond, but both sides should understand that you can't
respond 100% of the time.

We all get busy and a blog, unless it maintains a paid
membership, is often supported as a labor of love.

You may have heard of the current internet rage, blogging.
Whether you are a novice or an experienced webmaster/marketer,
publishing a blog can create another stream of targeted website
traffic. Today you will learn how easy it really is to create a
blog for your product or service promotions and how you can get
free, quality traffic to your website by using one.

This article will take you from creating your first blog the
right way, through getting it noticed by a lot of people, to
getting new leads from your product or service lead capture site.
You will find out how easy and effective blogging can be for you.


Creating Your First Blog

Go to http://www.Blogger.com and sign up for an account. Follow
the instructions provided to create your blog. Try your best to
come up with a descriptive name for your blog that will attract
attention. A good example of an enticing blog name can be found
here: http://lifewithoutdebt.blogspot.com Choose a blog name that
sparks curiosity. This will get qualified prospects clicking on
your blog listing to find out more.

During the set up process, you will be offered many options. Here
is a list of settings that will ensure that your blog will get
noticed...

- Check the box to "ping http://www.WebLogs.com"
- Turn NavBar On
- Set "Email Post To Friend" to Yes
- Turn "Post Pages" On
- Turn "Site Feed" On
- Set "Add to http://www.Blogger.com listings" to Yes


Directing Traffic To Your Product Website

Sign each post to your blog with your name and website link. The
most interested visitors will click through to your product or
service website. With a lead capture system in place, you can
have continued contact with all of your blog prospects. Offering
a free report or eCourse on your product site that would be
genuinely useful to your prospect will allow you to capture their
contact information. These will be quality leads that did not
cost you a dime.

This is the power of a properly managed blog.


Getting Your Blog Noticed

Your blog should be based on one main keyword that relates to
your product or service. Use this keyword throughout your blog
posts. When you make a new post to your blog, include another
related keyword that people would use to search for your product.

Your job is to post to your blog every day for the next 30 days.
Updating your blog frequently will put it on several "Recently
Updated" lists that appear on websites that track blog activity.
Doing this will also get you noticed by the internet search
engines. After 30 days, you will have a 30 page niche website
with keyword focused pages that will attract attention.

To get your blog noticed by even more people, submit the URL to
blog directories and blog search engines. Here are a few to get

By following this plan, you can expect targeted visitors to your
product website literally overnight. You can get sign ups to your

service marketed online.

Blogs are the hottest thing going these days when it comes
to marketing on the Internet. A blog is a delivery medium.
Here are 10 reasons why you should deliver your ezine articles
via a blog.

1. A blog is web based so you can update and post new articles
anywhere, anytime. It's a dynamic medium that can be updated
on a moment's notice.

2. Subscribers can subscribe to your RSS (Really Simple
Syndication) feed and have your content delivered straight to
their desktop. This delivery system bypasses spam filters and
readers get exactly the content they want.

3. No web site to mess with. It's very inexpensive way to set
up a web presence for your ezine. There are several sites
where you can set up a free blog and others are very reasonably
priced for the massive exposure you can get.

4. You can set up links for ads and your affiliate programs in
side columns so you don't have to include them in your ezine
format.

5. You can set up a subscription form and send emails to your
subscribers when new content is added.

6. Blogs link to other blogs which helps you create a viral marketing
system and increases your exposure in search engines. Search
engines LOVE text based, fresh content that is highly focused
(key word rich).

7. You can use your ezine blog to become a trusted expert for
your subscribers, by filtering content for them so they don't have
to visit hundreds of web sites.

8. You have an instant archive of all your articles. When you
post an article, a new page and permalink is created. People
can share that link with others and be sent directly to the article
being referenced.

9. Readers can comment on your articles, which creates rapport
and trust between you and your subscriber. Comments also
add rich content to your site and again, helps your ranking
in the search engines.

10. The bottom line is this: using a blog can help you attract
more visitors who become subscribers and then eventually
become clients.

For an ezine publisher, a blog compliments and can significantly
ease the delivery of your ezine content. Essentially, like any
web site, you have to promote it and encourage people to add
your site to their RSS feed (that's another subject) or subscribe
for updates through a subscription form. That's why I put a
subscribe form on my site - subscribers and get updates in
anyway they want. You still need to submit to search engines
and directories to drive traffic. If you already have an ezine
subscriber database, my advice would be to post everything on
the blog and then send a weekly email, or whatever your normal
publishing schedule is, informing your subscribers when new
content is posted.

Marketing is done in a conversational way and via the links on
your blog. Announcements can be posted on the blog and to
one's list. I see the blog and ezine database as complimentary...
working together to increase your exposure and make it easier
for people to get your information and build relationships.
